What We Do

What We Do

The Rafiki Foundation is a Christian organization whose goal is to help Africa’s orphaned and vulnerable
children become godly contributors to their communities and the world.  It was established in 1985 by Rosemary
Jensen and others who desired to help the children of Africa.  Rafiki’s plan for Africa has the potential of
impacting thousands of children through the establishment of Rafiki Training Villages and Rafiki Satellite
Villages.

Rafiki Villages
Rafiki Villages provide living and educational facilities in African countries where there are many orphans. The
vision of the Rafiki Village is to support the community by operating a home environment and quality schools for
orphans, and quarterly medical care for community residents. Rafiki Villages provide a Christian environment for
young men and women to develop leadership and life skills that promote their physical and spiritual well-being.

Since our goal is to develop these children to be godly contributors to their countries in Africa, we do not
facilitate the adoption of these children out of their countries, nor do we plan on educating them in the United
States. Instead, we will raise and educate them in their home countries so that they will remain and provide the
much needed leadership and help in their own culture.
