Given a New Name—Grace

Last week, Dave made another trip to Buchanan and picked up Barwrue. It was a grueling four-hour ride, ONE WAY. As the master of the understatement says, “That road ain't getting any better!” Dave took our newly arrived educational director Julie McKeighen and Rafiki Mother Annette with him.

In Buchanan, Annette gave four-year-old Barwrue a bath and dressed her in new shorts and shirt. Barwrue has been given a new name of Grace. This little girl is all smiles. She had no clothes of her own to take with her to Rafiki, and she was very happy with her new clothes and two new pairs of shoes. On the trip to the Village, she held her new doll. Grace is a girlie girl: she loves her shoes and blouses! Grace slept through the whole night on her first night at the Rafiki Village Liberia. Grace is underweight and a little short for her age. But with good nutrition, we expect her to catch up soon.
