A New Home
November 2009 (PDF214k)

For a long time, we were on hold and did not bring new children into the Village, but in October, we welcomed Innocent Chimenya, twenty months old, recovering from tuberculosis. His fourteen-year-old mother and nineteen-year-old father both died of HIV. His father’s family did not recognize him as theirs and his mother’s family was unwilling and unable to care for him. He had been in the hospital for more than three months. In the first two weeks here, he has taken his first steps, is learning many new words, and is fast claiming Rafiki Mother Estery as his mother.
