Rafiki Medical Program

Medical care in developing countries is a worldwide concern. Three out of four children in most of these countries die from diseases that could be prevented with proper medical attention. Over 50 percent of the population in the poorest parts of Africa does not have access to the most basic and vital medicines that could save the lives of innocent children.People waiting to receive medical attention at a Rafiki medical clinic

Rafiki provides quality healthcare for residents of the Rafiki Village and operates periodic medical clinics for the surrounding community through the Rafiki Medical Program

Care for the Children

Rafiki Villages are built with a well equipped medical clinic. The children receive routine immunizations, annual checkups, and proper care in the event of any illness.

A full-time Rafiki Overseas Staff physician or nurse provides care for the children and operates the medical clinic. Volunteer medical professionals help support the clinics through Rafiki MiniMissions.

Community Outreach

The Medical Program provides desperately needed medical care for the community as well. Each quarter, a weeklong clinic is offered for the surrounding community. The community clinics may treat as many as 200 patients a day.

Dates for community clinics for 2008 are:

Uganda: September 22 – October 2
Nigeria: October 6 – 16

Dates for community clinics for 2009:
Kenya: April 6 – 17; September 28 – October 8
Liberia: October 26 – November 5
Malawi: March 9 – 19; August 31 – September 10
Nigeria: February 23 – March 5; November 9 – 19
Uganda: March 23 – April 2; September 14 – 24

Community members assist with the operation and care provided for the patients both physically and spiritually. Rafiki Community Clinics also perform much needed AIDS prevention by providing a platform to educate the community.
